WP1 Revisiting reliability management methodologies SINTEF WP1 looks into current and proposed methodologies and definitions for reliability assessment and management, including socio-economic and environmental impact assessment.
WP2 Development of new reliability criteria for the pan-European electric power system University of Liege WP2 develops a sound and general methodology to both assess and optimize power system reliability of the pan-European electric power system.
WP3 Socio-economic assessment of reliability criteria Reykjavik University WP3 develops a sound methodology for the quantitative evaluation of the socio-economic impact of different reliability management strategies to be implemented in the European electric power system.
WP4 System development Elia WP4 takes the concepts developed in WP2 and WP3 into the context of the system development, and ensures the applicability of their outcomes. In addition, it develops additional specific methods required by the system development planner and feeds the findings back to WP2 and WP3.
WP5 Asset management RTE WP5 exploits, evaluates and refines new and different reliability criteria proposed by WP2 by taking into account their use in mid-term, and proposes a way to evaluate the socio-economic impact in coherence with the work carried out in WP3.
WP6 System operation Landsnet WP6 deploys new reliability management criteria from WP2 in a consistent way with real-time operation, and captures the multi-TSO/multi-area nature of the problem. The trade-offs between certain preventive or corrective control actions with their associated costs and the (monetized) consequences of inaction as evaluated in WP3 are brought into sharp focus to aid the decision-making process of a TSO in the short-term timeframe.
WP7 Development of a quantification platform for reliability criteria University of Leuven WP7 designs the GARPUR Quantification Platform that allows comparison of different reliability management strategies via numerical simulations of their application in different applications contexts.
WP8 Pilot scale validation Statnett WP8 aims to validate, through pilot tests, the possibility to compare different reliability criteria in terms of their induced socio-economic consequences and the practicalities of incorporating such new families of criteria into a TSOs actual decision making processes
WP9 Recommendations and roadmap for migration Statnett WP9 collects and analyses all results, experiences and lessons learned throughout GARPUR to deliver final recommendations to the stakeholders, and if results are promising, to develop a transition roadmap for how to evolve from the current N-1 practices into the new reliability framework.
WP10 Dissemination and exploitation Technofi WP10 aims to make policy makers, regulators and all involved bodies of the electricity value chain ready to adopt new reliability management criteria at the pan-European level, and to encourage further supporting activities to deploy the evolving reliability criteria.
WP11 Coordination and management SINTEF WP11 provides the sole interface with the Commission on scientific and technical matters relating to the GARPUR project through SINTEF Energy Research, the Coordinator. WP11 co-ordinates and manages the GARPUR consortium.
